Deductible assistance: what it is and what to watch for

Yes, shops can legally help with your deductible in Colorado — but not every offer is on the level. Here's how to tell.

What deductible assistance means

When a shop offers deductible assistance, it covers part or all of your comprehensive deductible through a discount on the repair invoice. Done openly on the invoice, it is a legal and common practice for hail claims.

The key word is openly. The discount must appear on the paperwork the carrier sees — never as a side deal or a cash kickback.

Red flags to avoid

Walk away from any shop that offers to inflate the assessment to 'hide' your deductible. That is insurance fraud, and it can void your claim and your coverage.

Also be wary of storm-chasing pop-up operations that demand cash up front or pressure you to sign a contract before the adjuster has even seen the car.

How we handle it

We offer deductible assistance on qualifying hail claims and put it in writing on the assessment. You see the full repair price, the discount, and exactly what you owe — zero surprises at pickup.
